Our Projects

Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief

About This Project

The world faces many natural disasters, including earthquakes, tsunami, volcanic eruptions, and landslides. In April 2011, Japan was struck by the Great East Japan Earthquake, which devastated that part of the country. Joining forces with other organizations and individuals, both in and out of Japan, ANT-Hiroshima supports the recovery of disaster-affected areas. We value creating relationships with the local people and maintaining these ties on a long-term basis.

How This Work Began

In 2005, a major earthquake struck the Kashmir region of Pakistan. ANT-Hiroshima had already been working on a project in Pakistan, and we received a message from a Pakistani friend asking for help. After receiving this message, representatives from ANT-Hiroshima paid a visit to Kashmir and began providing urgent assistance. Since this time, we have continued to work with others on humanitarian and disaster reconstruction support activities.
